League Levels

TEEBALL:

• Boys and Girls, ages 5-7 (See AGE DETERMINATION TOOL HERE)

This division is an instructional league where everyone will have equal playing time. Scores and Outs are not tracked. Emphasis is on game basics, encouragement of positive self-esteem, good sportsmanship, and fun.  Teeball is designed to introduce the game to first-time players while they learn basic fundamentals such as throwing, catching, hitting, fielding position and basic rules.

• We have 8-12 teams and play 4-6 games every Tuesday and Thursday.  Three games per night will take place at OLD Rockport Elementary School Field (corner of Rts. 1 & 90).  Up to three more games will take place at the three other Five Town locations, with each of our teams taking turns playing at those locations;  the Lincolnville Town fields, behind Lincolnville Central School, the softball field behind Hope Elementary School, and the Appleton Village School field.

• Each player receives hat and team shirt for games

• Each player needs to have their own baseball glove.

MINORS SOFTBALL (coach pitch)

• No Tryouts.  For Girls ages 7-10. (See AGE DETERMINATION TOOL HERE)

This division is also an instructional league designed for girls just starting and looking for a gradual transition into competitive Softball. Girls will have equal playing time. Coaches pitch to players and work on development of fundamentals and game techniques. Players will build their playing skills such as correct pitching mechanics, proper field positioning, and learn official Softball rules.

• Each player receives hat and team shirt for games.

• All practices and games take place at the Marge Jones Recreational Center and Hope Elementary School fields.

• Games and practices schedules to be announced.

• Away games will be scheduled in a manner to be determined.

"DOUBLE A" MINORS BASEBALL:  (Coach Pitch // formerly "Lower Minors")

• No tryouts.  For players ages 7-9 (see AGE DETERMINATION TOOL HERE)

This developmental league is designed as an introduction to baseball for young players transitioning from tee-ball (or no baseball exposure).  Emphasis on baseball fundamentals, sportsmanship, and fun.  Players will play all positions and have an at-bat every inning.

• All Games are held at True Park, in Hope – Mondays and Wednesdays, at 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m.

• Pre-Season Skills Assessments will take places outdoors at True Park beginning on Monday, April 26 (weather permitting)

• Team Assignments will be made after the Skills Assessments have been completed.

• Each player receives hat to keep, and will be given a uniform jersey, belt, and socks to be used for the season.

• OPENING DAY CEREMONIES (virtual) : Saturday, May 1, at Marge Jones Recreation Center Field, in Rockport (via Zoom/TBA)

• FIRST GAME (tent.):  Saturday, May 15  CLOSING CEREMONIES: Saturday, June 26 (Details TBA)

 

"TRIPLE A" MINORS BASEBALL: (Kids Pitch // formerly "Upper Minors")

No tryout necessary.  For players aged 8-11.  (See AGE DETERMINATION TOOL HERE) This developmental league is a perfect for players ready for competitive play but who could benefit from focused instruction. Players will learn the fundamentals of each position and be given opportunities to play at every position.

• All Home games take place at True Park, in Hope.  Saturday away games may be scheduled against teams from neighboring little leagues, i.e. (Rockland, Thomaston, Warren, and Washington)

• Tuesday and Thursdays, at 6:00 p.m., and Saturdays at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. Tues. and Thurs. games are 4 innings. Saturday games are up to 6 innings (coaches discretion).

Saturdays at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m.

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL (Kids Pitch)

• For players ages 9 - 12 (must be 9 years-old by 8/31/2021)(see AGE DETERMINATION TOOL HERE)

This is the highest level of Little League. While still developmental, the game is played in a very competitive way, with some control of playing time. League standings will be kept and every team will have the opportunity to participate in a double-elimination playoff tournament. Emphasis on Sportsmanship, respecting the game of baseball, building on skills, start the development of strong mental approach to the game with more complicated signs, set plays, base coverage, fielding. Players need to TRY-OUT for this level, once drafted to a team that player remains on that team until their Little League age expires. Players at this level are also eligible for All-Star teams that play after the regular season in the summer.

• TRYOUTS:  Saturday, April 17, 2021, starting at 2:00 p.m.. at The PITCH, in Warren.  Majors candidates will be assigned a specific tryout time (by the hour) after registration, between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Bring a glove, clean gym shoes, and if you wish, your favorite USA Baseball-approved bat.

• TEAM ASSIGNMENTS will be announced shortly after tryouts.  Team managers will begin scheduling pre-season practices during the week after tryouts.
